PLFL Grand Final 2012

Full Crowd at the PLFL grand final 2012

Saturday 22nd September was a big event in Port Lincoln.  It was the Port Lincoln Football League 2012 grand final.
Tasman's vs Mallee Park.  Tasman's home ground is right in town at Centennial Park, they've been a team since 1946.  Mallee Park formed in 1980 and are an all indigenous team.  It was a pretty windy day, there was a definite advantage being at the Southern end of the ground.  Mallee Park seemed to lead in skill but Tasman's took the lead in fitness and ended up winning the game.

Notable Former Players

A number of players from the Port Lincoln FL clubs have gone on to play professionally in the SANFL and AFL. The team with most players to do so at any one time is Mallee Park, who have direct player/team relationships with at least 9 current indigenous players on 6 AFL team lists, including Graeme Johncock, Byron Pickett and brothers Peter and Shaun Burgoyne. Mallee Park also has a direct relationship with some other Indigenous players whose fathers have played for the club in its early foundation years in the early 1980's.

Fisherman's Point - Lincoln National Park

Looking down from the camping area.

Oh me, Oh my.  There are so many wonderful spots in the Lincoln National Park.  So far, I have only touched on a few and let me tell you - they do not dissapoint!
This might be one of my favourites.  Accessible by 2WD it's about 30mins into the National Park.  This point is set about 10-15 metres above sea level.  It's secluded by shrubbery and almost has 360 views of the ocean.  It sits right above a lovely peaceful bay.  You can light campfires, set up camp, relax, swim, fish, walk on the beach and just enjoy.  What more could you possibly need?

Pretty nice huh?
